Human Rights

The central human rights body in the United Nations is the Human Rights Council (HRC), established in 2006, with headquarters in Geneva.

The Council was established by the UN General Assembly on 3 April 2006 with Resolution 60/251, to replace the former Commission on Human Rights. It comprises 47 elected members from all regional groups who serve for three-year terms.

For more information on HRC, see its webpage:

In the past the country served as a member already twice, in the period 2007 - 2010 and 2016 - 2018.
