Izjava RS v splošni razpravi o človekovih pravicah v Slonokoščeni obali
Sixteenth Session of the Human Rights Council
Item 4 – Follow-up to the 14th Special Session
(14 March 2011)
Slovenia aligns itself with the statement of the European Union. In our national capacity, we wish to make the following additional comments:
Slovenia is deeply concerned about the serious human rights violations committed in Côte d’Ivoire after the November 2010 elections and about the humanitarian situation which arose in the aftermath of the elections.
Armed clashes in different parts of the country present serious threats to civilian population. Slovenia calls on all the parties to the conflict to immediately cease the attacks on civilian population and make it possible for the international community, especially UNOCI, to assist the victims of human rights violations.
We further call for a thorough investigation of all human rights violations committed in Côte d’Ivoire and that perpetrators of these violations are brought to justice.
In terms of follow-up to the special session, we urge all States and all relevant actors to keep track of the implementation of relevant commitments.
Thank you, Mr. President.
